I arrived at 4:26pm and left at 4:36pm. 10 minute smog... easy. Workers were friendly and quick. Great place.

Do not go here for out-of-state transfers. The the guy is very rude and unknowledgeable about the DMV systems. He likes to argue with customers over the phone about mistakes on their end. I repeat do not go here for out-of-state transfers unless you are looking to have issues.

I’ve had two disappointing experiences with Smog Express, and I feel compelled to warn others. About a month ago, we brought in our vehicle and were told it failed, but neither the owner nor the employee (Jeff) could explain why. They admitted they couldn’t properly test it. We then had a trusted mechanic make significant repairs, someone who knows the shop’s owner and he offered to step in if there were further issues. When I returned today, Jeff was immediately rude and dismissive. He claimed the truck failed the visual inspection but couldn’t articulate what was wrong. The owner, Hai, came over and rather than addressing the concern, asked Jeff, "What do you want to charge him?" as if pricing was being made up on the spot. Hai claimed the vehicle should have a carburetor (it doesn’t...it has a California CARB-compliant ESI system that was installed years ago and previously passed at this exact shop). When I tried to ask for clarification, Hai claimed the vacuum lines were incorrect, but again, couldn’t specify what was wrong. He said it would take “at least two hours” to figure it out, then made a “timeout” hand gesture and told me he’s been doing this for 35 years and if I didn’t like it, I could go elsewhere. Rude, evasive, and expensive. They may be convenient because of DMV services, but the lack of transparency and poor customer service are not worth it. There are far better options in Sacramento for smog checks...do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I have been coming here for years now and it’s still my favorite smog shop in Sacramento. They are honest, customer service is friendly, and they work fast to get you smogged and out quickly. If it doesn’t pass smog then they offer the next best choice and advise you on how to fix the issue. Definitely worth the value you pay.
